In less than five years, the technology of solar cells and batteries has improved by leaps and bounds. Older solar garden lights had a poor reputation for emitting only a small amount of light for a short period of time. This, however, is no longer true.
That’s not to say that solar garden lighting is perfect. However, today’s version of solar garden lights is far superior to the first generation of solar landscape lighting. Keep in mind that solar lighting is the next best thing to a low-voltage outdoor lighting system, which is expensive to install and maintain.
There are numerous different means to light the exterior of the home, and while an electrical lighting system can be seem convenient, a solar powered lighting system works much better for many homeowners. Solar technology has seen significant advancements in recent years, and while a decade ago it was difficult for solar lights to put out enough illumination to light up an exterior area, the newer technology has allowed lights to brighten even the darkest locations. You can use solar flood lights, solar path lights, or solar powered yard lights to brighten up the outdoors. These lights store energy during the daylight hours, and then illuminate the outdoors at night. Solar power is energy efficient and has little to no upkeep costs. Solar lights are also effective all year (unless you live in the Arctic where the sun doesn’t come up for several months!).
With solar lighting, it’s possible for any homeowner to create a unique outdoor landscape that will look great in both light and darkness. Purchase a solar lighting kit or individual lights and start building a solar powered garden or landscape!
While all pond owners are able to enjoy their pond during the daylight hours, it’s often more difficult at night. Even with illumination from the periphery, it can be difficult to see what’s moving in the water. The solution to this is floating pond lights. These lights can illuminate the area both above and below the surface of the pond, allowing the viewer to appreciate fish, frogs, and insects that tend to frequent the water at night. Floating pond lights are also great for fish and frogs because they attract insects like moths which can serve as food. Most floating pond lights are solar powered as well, which makes their installation and operation simple and energy efficient. You can use floating pond lights in ponds with different depth levels and during all seasons. Watch and be amazed as the pond is illuminated by a floating light!
Floating solar lights are available from various retailers online and are quite affordable on even the most modest budgets. Because the lights are solar powered, there’s no real costs for upkeep and the lights will last for some time to come.
